## Tips for trades CVs in 2026

1. **Cards table at the top.** Construction recruiters and labour agencies filter on CSCS / JIB / Gas Safe card colour and expiry in the first 5 seconds. Burying the card kills the call-back.
2. **Project value + scale.** "£4.2m fit-out, 14-strong sub-team" beats "worked on a fit-out". Recruiters benchmark you against contract size.
3. **Map to the spec.** If the job ad asks for "2391 essential", make 2391 visible in the cards table — do not bury it in a paragraph.
4. **Mobile screening.** 70%+ of trades agencies open CVs on phone-sized screens. Avoid two-column layouts that wrap badly.
5. **Photographs.** UK construction does not expect a photo. Some EU markets (DE, CH) do — adjust for your target country.
